A Halloween Craft

We were checking out Michaels Crafts for cheap stickers for Ethan's "Helper Chart" at home.  We didn't find any stickers he wanted but a Wilton Halloween Gingerbread House was on sale so we picked that up to do Saturday.

Admittedly, I didn't make the icing quite right.  The orange was a bit too runny, as was the black but we had fun.  I do wish I had more varieties of candy on hand though.  We ran out quickly.  PLENTY of icing though!

We can't wait for our annual Christmas Gingerbread House making this year!

I want to thank Josh for getting me this little beauty Christmas of 2005.  I've made so many different things with her help.  From bean bags to totes.  Baby blankets to burp cloths.  Parts of Halloween costumes to aprons.

A Pair of Hats

Here are projects #2 and #3. An infant and a toddler sized hat. I really like the one on the right.


The brim is the perfect size for extra warmth over the ears. The one I finished for Ethan isn't so perfect but I made it!


Now I'm on to a scarf for myself and a hat for Josh. Lovin' these Knifty Knitter Looms!!!

Knifty Knitter

I've been wanting to learn to knit for quite sometime and recently taught myself. However, I find it takes more concentration than I would like and I needed an easier way. I found it! The Knifty Knitter by Provo Craft. It is a loom knitting system that makes it more like weaving than knitting and it goes SO fast!

A cute little hat for Ethan. Don't you just love his rosy cheeks? He has been sick with the flu for the past few days and that is what a fever does to him! He does have a large head though and the size that should have fit him is a bit snug. Next time I'll try the next size up.




I am still working out the kinks of the system. For example, with worsted weight yarn, you have to use more than one strand if you want it to be thicker. Also, I didn't quite know when to stop and made the hat a bit too long. Oh well, that's why I'm still learning!

I ran out of adhesive for my scrapbooking tonight and went to Michael's to pick some up. They had some really good deals on yarn, so I've picked some up for project #2! Wish me luck.
